What is the pH of a swimming pool?

The pH of a pool is one of the most relevant parameters that you should measure in your pool water. It is the measure of the degree of acidity and alkalinity of the water and can vary between 7.2 and 7.6. The main advantage of having a correct pH in your pool is always being able to enjoy clean and crystal clear water with the least amount of maintenance. This will make your water last longer.

Why does the pool’s pH level vary?

There are many reasons that can lead the pH of your pool to increase or decrease, leaving the recommended levels. We tell you some of them:

  • Sunscreens. These types of products cause some imbalances in the pH levels, affecting the acidity level of the water.
  • The chlorine level. Depending on the type of chlorine with which you maintain your pool, it may affect the pH level to a greater or lesser extent. Since each compound: liquid or tablets, includes different compositions.
